Group of Solar Cell Technology

Solar Cell Technology Group was established in 2005. A research platform on silicon-based solar cells is under construction to pursue novel solar cells and economic productive processing. There is a complete process line for crystalline Si solar cells in the group, including wafer cleaning bathes, diffusion furnace, RIE, PECVD, screen-printers, drying furnaces, sintering furnace, and other packaging equipments to make modules. Further, a magnetic sputtering and a thermal evaporation have been built to make ITO and metal contacts. A PECVD system with multi chambers is now under configuration to develop Si thin film deposition. Besides, a WT-2000 wafer tester from Semilab Ltd. Co. (Hungary) is provided to determine the minority carrier lifetime and thus the qualities of Si wafers and solar cells.
Now, there are 5 research staff and 2 students in the group. The group leader, Prof. Wenjing Wang, has devoted to Si solar cells for more than 10 years and accumulated abundant experience on crystalline Si solar cells, Si-based thin film solar cells, and the PV applications including power station, solar energy yacht, hydrogen production by solar energy, and so on. Recently, he participated to make some industrial policies and development consultation of photovoltaics in China. Prof. Wang has published more than 80 papers.
The Current Research Topics is as following:
1¡¢ The New Type of Solar Cell
1) New type high- efficiency silicon solar cell
2) Low-cost silicon thin film solar cell
2¡¢ Improving Industry Technology
1) The research of high-efficiency a-Si/c-Si heterojunction solar cells, and pilot test (This program is supported by National High Technology Research and Development Program (863).
2) The research of a-Si/μ-Si tandem solar cells, and pilot test
 3) c-Si solar cell technology: effective ways for manufacturer to reduce cost and improving the efficiency (a cooperation project with JiangSu LinYang Solarfun Co., Ltd. and Eoplly New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. )
