The Superconducting Materials Group is part of the Key Laboratory of Applied Superconductivity at IEE, CAS. The scientific work of the Group covers a wide area of superconducting research topics ranging from MgB2 and YBCO films (MOD) for conductor applications to general aspects of superconductors. The main focus of our current research is to develop high performance MgB2 superconducting tapes and wires. We have a fruitful cooperation on this topic, such as structure analysis, physical property measurements, development of superconducting coils, etc. with several other groups from China, Japan and Europe. Besides superconductors, the group has also extended to study advanced magnetic, nanometer-scaled and other functional materials processed in high magnetic fields.
The members of the Superconducting Materials Group are involved in a number of national and international research projects on superconductor and functional materials research. The group has four academic staff, and a large number of post-docs, research students and visiting scientists. Prof. Yan-Wei Ma, the group leader and supervisor for PH.D., has been chosen to “Bairen” project of CAS and committeeman of American Applied Superconducting Conference program committee.
