Analysis on requirements of superconducting technology
for future power grid

Abstract: The rapid increase of the long⁃term and medium⁃term electrical load demand and the uneven geographic
distribution of load and power sources will bring a significant challenge to power transmission and grid technology in
China. This paper presents analysis on the challenges of current common transmission mode based on briefly illus⁃
trating the possible long⁃term and medium⁃term electrical supply scenario and transmission mode. By analyzing the
requirements of superconducting technology for future power grid based on the development and application of it,

Crosstalk suppression method of SiC MOSFET in phase⁃leg configuration

Abstract: Compared with silicon (Si) MOSFET, silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET is more conducive to meet the re⁃
quirements of power electronic converters towards high efficiency, high power density and high reliability. Howev⁃
er, the crosstalk between the upper and lower switch limits the SiC MOSFET performance in phase⁃leg configura⁃
tion. Based on analyses of crosstalk mechanism, this paper uses an improved method of active Miller clamp based
on PNP transistor for crosstalk suppression. A double⁃pulse test prototype is also built to verify the theoretical expla⁃
nation. As is shown by the experimental results, the improved method achieves good effect in crosstalk suppression
and provides guide in design of gate driver for SiC MOSFET in phase⁃leg configuration circuit.

Modeling of magnetic integration Buck converter with
supercapacitors charging system

Abstract: Synchronous rectifier Buck converter is widely used in low voltage charging situation. Using interleaving
magnetic integration technology can effectively reduce the inductor current ripple, increase transform power and en⁃
hance converter efficiency, and at the same time can improve the system dynamic response speed. At the stage of
super capacitor charging, using state⁃space average method, a big single mode and a small single mode of a 3⁃phase
interleaved magnetic integration synchronous rectifier Buck converter under CCM mode are obtained. This paper
proposes the open⁃loop transfer functions of the current and voltage circuit. Then the amplitude⁃frequency curve and
phase⁃frequency curve are plotted by a Matlab simulation, based on which the feedback loop compensation design is
given for optimization design of the controller, improving system stability and dynamic response speed. The results
of the analysis are verified through experiment and simulation.

Research of ZVS bi⁃directional DC⁃DC converter in supercapacitor
energy recovery system

Abstract: In view of the problem that super capacitor energy recovery system with hard switching circuit has high
loss, this paper studies a bidirectional DC⁃DC soft switching topology based on resonance. The topology uses four
power switches to achieve bidirectional power flow, then it reduces switching loss through the switch conduction
with zero voltage (ZVS). The paper analyzes the working mode of converter under the mode of Buck and Boost
mode, and deduces the basic equation of steady work. Then we established a simulation model of 20V/100V 240W
bidirectional DC⁃DC converter and manufactured an experimental prototype. Afterwards the simulation and experi⁃
ment are carried out on the converter operation mode, and the results of simulation and experimental show that the
efficiency of the converter can reach more than 95%.

Research on partitioning principle and unequal span winding of novel
AC machine with module combination stator

Abstract: LSHP (Low⁃Speed and High⁃Power) AC machine refers to the machines of speed below 300 r/ min and
power above mega⁃watt. They are mainly used for the large hydro⁃generator, direct drive permanent magnet syn⁃
chronous wind power generator, large mine direct drive and large ship’s main propulsion, etc, and occupy an im⁃
portant position in the national economy. Aiming at the problems existing in the traditional manufacturing proce⁃
dures of the processing, assembly and maintenance, a LSHP AC machine with module combination stator was put
forward. By studying the partitioning principle of stator, calculating the winding coefficient, weakening harmonics
number and the minimum number of slots that the independent modules required with different q, the method of q
selection was summarized from the rate of winding utilization and the ability of harmonics weakened. At last, a test⁃
platform was built and the experiment was carried out of the model machine. The results showed that the correctness
of partitioning principle and feasibility of modular stator structure, which laid a foundation for the further study. Key words: LSHP AC machines; module combination machines; stator partitioning; harmonics

Optimization research of stator with two degree⁃of⁃freedom
traveling⁃wave spherical ultrasonic motor

Abstract: The driving principle and basic structure of this kind of spherical ultrasonic motor are firstly introduced.
Then optimal structure of stator is analyzed. By the established finite element model the stator vibration modal anal⁃
ysis is carried out and the resonance frequency can be calculated. And then according to the optimization conditions
for dip angle of stator, the structure of the stator is optimized. Through ANSYS software the modal analysis and the
harmonious response analysis in different dip angles of stator can be completed. So relation between resonance fre⁃
quency of stator and dip angle can be deduced. Finally test of designed stator is carried out by laser vibration test
system. The best angle of the stator can be determined and the significant experimental data can also be obtained.
The test results show that the optimized stator is more in line with the actual operation characteristics, which is a
more accurate guide for the motor design.

Field⁃circuit coupled simulation and experiment for wireless power
transmission excited by square wave

Abstract: Magnetic resonant wireless power transmission is a new type of technology which conducts non⁃radiative,
mid⁃range power transmission based on resonant coupling phenomena. The scholars from different countries have
conducted numerous similar experiments and analyses. With the sinusoidal alternating current being the exciting
source, many results were achieved through simulating and analyzing coil coupling using the alternating magnetic
fields generated by the alternating current and then calculating the coupling voltage and power. The pulse current
can also produce alternating magnetic fields and the wireless power transmission excited by the pulse current has its
own features. With this transmission method, higher power can be transmitted to the load. In this study, the circuit
response process and the mechanism of resonant coupling excited by the pulse current are discussed, and the corre⁃
sponding simulations and experiments are conducted.

Prediction of solar radiation values considering uncertainty of
cloud cover and aerosols

Abstract: The prediction about solar radiation, which is the most influential factor of PV output, is of great signifi⁃
cance. In the previous methods of solar radiation prediction, a few have considered different kinds of uncertainly
weather factors. In order to overcome this shortcoming and forecast the PV output more effectively, this paper puts
forward to a model based on REST model and uncertainty theory. After analyzing the randomness and fuzziness of
the cloud covers and aerosols using the uncertainty theory, the paper sets up two random fuzzy variables, i. e. cloud
cover index coefficient and aerosol optical depth in the REST model of cloudless weather and cloud cover index
model, which is applicable to conditions of different cloud covers and different air quality levels. Then the model
verifies the effectiveness of the improved model by taking data of BMS photovoltaic power plants as an example. The

Research of micro water content of oil⁃paper transformer based on oil⁃paper
insulation system’s equivalent circuit method

Abstract: Water can seriously endanger the insulation state of oil⁃paper insulation system of transformer, so it is of
great significance to analyze the transformer’s aging and damp condition with the method of diagnosing the micro
water content of the transformer accurately. In this paper, by applying oil⁃paper insulation transformer relaxation re⁃
sponse equivalent circuit and the characteristics of the return voltage polarization spectrum, combined with the arti⁃
ficial intelligence algorithms to identify the equivalent circuit parameters accurately, the relationship between the
micro water content and equivalent circuit’s parameters is discussed further, and an important conclusion is ob⁃
tained that the larger the relaxation time of the large time constant circuit, the fewer the water content of the trans⁃
former is. At the same time, it aids us to judge the damp conditions of the transformer by comparing the variation of
insulation resistance, polarization resistance and polarization capacitance. At last, we verify the correctness of this

Research on load regulation characteristics of DBD type ozone generator
under typical adjustment strategies

Abstract: The circuit analysis model of DBD (Dielectric Barrier Discharge) type ozone generator system, which is
powered by serial load resonant inverter, is achieved with the linear equivalent circuit of DBD type ozone generator
in this paper. Based on the circuit analysis, the circuit constraint equations of DBD type ozone generator system are
derived. The load regulation characteristics of DBD type ozone generator are deduced and validated by experiments
under the PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation), the PAM (Pulse Amplitude Modulation), and the CLI (Change
Load Impedance). Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the discharge power of DBD type ozone
generator is nearly proportional to DC voltage of inverter in PAM, the discharge power of DBD type ozone generator
is near to quadratic equation with working frequency in PFM, and the discharge power of DBD type ozone generator
is nearly in inverse proportion to resonant inductor in CLI. So PAM is a suitable adjustment strategy for DBD type

Optimal design on main circuit parameters of WPT system with single tube

Abstract: Common single tube inverter can only achieve power transmission during the switch is either opening or
closed. This paper proposed an inductively coupled power transmission system with single tube, and it can not only
realize zero voltage turn⁃on and zero voltage turn⁃off but also can transfer power no matter the switch is on or off. In
order to make the design scheme transfer power efficiently and steadily, it proposes a method to design the main cir⁃
cuit parameters based on voltage transmission characteristics. On the basis of the dynamic analysis of the main cir⁃
cuit, the equivalent transformation on the resonant network along with the voltage gain function of the system is giv⁃
en out. The condition for realizing ZVS and the parameters configuration for maximum voltage gain are obtained in
the process of optimizing the resonance frequency of both sides. The global optimal design is done. Finally the cor⁃
rectness of the design is verified by simulation and experiment.

Data conversion analysis of power flow data between
BPA and PSS / E in power system

Abstract: BPA, a simulation program for power system which is introduced into china by China Electric Power Re⁃
search Institute, and as well as the PSS/ E, a similar program developed by Siemens,have been widely used in
power system digital simulation. Owing to its powerful numerical computing capability, many research institutions
show a particular favorite on PSS/ E. There is a practical engineering significance to complete the data conversion
from the BPA program to the PSS / E. This paper introduces a conversion program written with Fortran and takes
IEEE 300⁃node pure AC system, IEEE 4⁃machine 2⁃area power system and the Fengda system of Southern Power
Grid in 2013 as examples to ensure its validity. The result turns out that the conversion program can effectively
complete the data conversion from BPA to PSS/ E.

Application of improved ACO algorithm optimized PI
controller in control of HVDC

Abstract: An improved ant colony optimization algorithm in view of pheromone volatilization factor which can over⁃
come the disadvantage of frequent trapping in local optimum in the traditional ant colony algorithm is proposed in this
paper in order to optimize parameters of PI controller in HVDC system. With the function of changing pheromone vol⁃
atilization factor adaptively based on the optimization process, the improved ant colony optimization algorithm raises
the global searching ability while keeping a high convergence rate. A systematic method of optimizing the parameters
of PI controller in HVDC system is proposed in this paper based on the improved ant colony algorithm. Finally,
through simulation calculation, the effectiveness and the feasibility of the method proposed are proved.

Application of isothermal relaxation to aging assessment of
EPDM rubber insulated cable connectors

Abstract: Isothermal relaxation current of cable connector insulation is measured with a method of isothermal relax⁃
ation current (IRC). The aging status of the connector insulation is described with a model based on the interface
polarization theory. It is pointed out that the aging degree of the connector insulation can be quantified with a pa⁃
rameter of aging factor. It is shown that the aging factor of the connectors increases with aging time. To confirm the
accuracy in connector aging accessing, activation energy of the connectors is investigated with thermogravimetry
(TG) according to the standard of ASTM E698. It is shown that the activation energy decreases with aging time.
Therefore, there is a good consistence between the aging factor and the activation energy. Also it is a good evidence
to the accuracy of aging status assessment in cable connector. Key words: thermal relaxation current method; cable connector; aging accession; aging factor; thermogravimetry;
