(1. State Grid Corporation of China, Beijing 100032, China; 2. State Key Lab of Power Systems,
Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing 100084, China)
Abstract: As the second defense line of power systems stability control architecture, advanced emergency control
technologies are indispensable for power grids catastrophe preventing. Current power system emergency control sys⁃
tems are extensive and have no selectivity for different loads. In order to overcome these intrinsic shortcomings, the
concept, structure and model of Refined Power System Stability Control Systems (RSCS) are proposed based on
User Energy Management Systems (UEMS), and the algorithm for calculating generation/ load shedding proportion
is proposed based on optimal control theories. RSCS can achieve selective and accurate load shedding through
UEMS, e. g. , loads which doesn’t affect power consumers’ experiences if they are shed for a short time are firstly
shed. Numerical simulation results manifest the correctness and validity of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract: The traditional warning analysis of low⁃frequency oscillation in power system uses monotonous method
and prone to lose some eigenvalue from time to time. The corresponding emergency control measures pay little at⁃
tention to spillage of the balancing unit caused by the output adjustment of other generators in the system and the
calculation of the sensitivity is complicated. In view of this deficiency in the traditional method, this paper puts for⁃
ward to a new kind of low⁃frequency oscillation warning method and dynamic damping control strategy. Firstly, the
eigenvalue method and the pattern extraction method are combined to analyze the power system to reduce the phe⁃
nomenon of losing eigenvalue. For the low damping modes in the results, sensitivity coefficient is put forward and
combined with the equal and opposite quantities adjustment method to provide the dynamic damping control strate⁃
gy. Finally, the techniques in this paper are verified by the results of Gansu power system simulation.

Abstract: The use of thermal power unit with fast cut back (FCB) capacity as non⁃conventional black⁃start power
is conducive to the restoration of power grid in short period and has tremendous social and economic benefits. The
start of conventional thermal power unit is divided into cold, warm, hot, very hot and extreme hot five different
starting modes. Unit start⁃up time model and restoration path time model constitute the system recovery time model.
The consideration of technical check item in restoration path time model makes restoration paths that do not satisfy
the technical conditions be excluded by calculation during the system recovery. A power system black⁃start strategy
considering recovery time model is proposed with the target of maximizing the total output electric energy of units in
given system recovery time. Numerical examples on the savnw 23⁃bus and IEEE 300⁃bus systems are used to dem⁃
onstrate the accuracy of the strategy. Results of numerical example of large power system with multi⁃start powers
further show that power unit with FCB capacity is conducive to speeding up the recovery of large power system. Key words: recovery time model; black start strategy; fast cut back; unit; starting model

Abstract: Power electronic load is a device used to test the power supply quality. When three⁃phase power elec⁃
tronic load worked in unbalanced or nonlinear condition, dc bus capacitor contained abundant harmonic, which led
to the decrease of the quality of the grid current through the PWM modulation and the voltage loop controller. Ac⁃
cording to the theory of instantaneous power, the power balance equation of power electronic load was established
and the expressions of dc bus harmonic voltage were deduced. The influence mechanism of dc bus capacitor from
simulation load converter and grid converter was also discussed. After analyzing the characteristics of several kinds
of filter, a dc voltage control scheme based on hysteresis current control strategy was proposed to suppress the effect
on grid output current from dc bus voltage harmonic and to improve the quality of feed network current. The simula⁃
tion and experiment verify the accuracy of theoretical analysis, the validity and reliability of the algorithm. Key words: three⁃phase power electronic load; grid connection converter; dc bus; hysteresis control; instantane⁃

Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing 210016, China)
Abstract: A hybrid centralized⁃distributed TEG power generation system can overcome the maximum power points
mismatching among different thermoelectric generator modules and maximize the energy efficiency of the whole sys⁃
tem. This paper proposes a distributed MPPT control scheme for the hybrid centralized⁃distributed TEG power gen⁃
eration systems. Maximum power point tracking of all of the TEG modules is achieved fast, accurately and steadily
by directly regulating the output current of each TEG module with coordinate control of the centralized and distribu⁃
ted units. With the proposed control strategy, the input current of the centralized unit is equal to the minimum max⁃
imum power point current of those TEG modules, and the maximum power point current difference is regulated by
the distributed unit. Experimental results based on four⁃module TEG system are given to verify the feasibility and
effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

(School of Control Science and Engineering, Hebei University of Technology, Tianjin 300130, China)
Abstract: This paper firstly analyzes the grid⁃connected process of three level of PV grid⁃connected inverter based
on power decoupling, then by using the method of decomposing the voltage references of three level voltage modula⁃
tion into two level space vector modulation, the calculation and control strategy of three level SVPWM are simplified
and the traditional complicated calculations of three level space voltage vector action time are avoided. Through de⁃
tection of midpoint potential difference, we can determine the value of controlling factor which adjusts the
redundancy small vector pairs’ action time in the switching cycle. In this way, midpoint potential fluctuations of
the three⁃level grid⁃connected inverter can be inhibited and balance can be achieved. According to the proposed
control algorithms, a three⁃phase PV grid⁃connected inverter is developed. Experimental result shows that the pro⁃
posed control strategies are validated and has good dynamic and steady⁃state performances. A good quality output
power is achieved and it is compliant with the National standards.

Abstract: In single⁃phase photovoltaic (PV) grid inverter, the differences between input and output instantaneous
power require large electrolytic capacitors, but the lifetime of electrolytic capacitors is relatively short, which se⁃
verely limits the life span of the inverter. To solve this problem, power decoupling unit is added in the inverter so
that electrolytic capacitors are replaced with long⁃life film capacitors. This paper studies the parameter calculation
and loss analysis of a flyback inverter with power decoupling, then verifies the feasibility of the topology by experi⁃
ment.

Abstract: In order to track and compensate the grid harmonic current quickly and accurately in the process of dy⁃
namic compensation harmonic for shunt active power filter (SAPF), the SAPF that based on the topology structure
of neutral point clamped three⁃level inverter is analyzed, and a finite control set model predictive control strategy is
proposed. Firstly, the load voltage and current are predicted in two steps ahead by the repetitive predictor, and
then according to these predictions, the reference value of compensation current is computed in two steps ahead
through p⁃q theory. The simulation results show that the SAPF controlled by the finite control set model predictive
control strategy can reduce the total harmonic distortion of grid current effectively, and has good compensation per⁃

Abstract: In large power transformers, magnetic shields can be used to control the distribution of the leakage flux
produced by the windings to avoid the hazardous local overheating causing the unpredictable damage of insulating
parts due to excessive concentration of stray losses (including eddy current and hysteresis losses) generated in
structural parts, and then effectively save energy and reduce the total power losses, reasonably improve the reliabil⁃
ity of the operation. In this paper, the distributions of magnetic fluxes and losses caused in two kinds of shields are
examined and compared in detail based on three⁃dimensional modeling and simulation of MEM⁃ and M⁃type shields
which are built by different stacked ways applied in large power transformers, and the experimental setup that meas⁃
ures the losses of the magnetic shields is further improved to provide a more reasonable condition of the leakage flux
complementing for the application of stray⁃field loss measurement and to validate the effectiveness of all the model⁃
ing, simulation, which has significant analysis and reference value for optimizing the design of magnetic shields in
large power transformers.

(Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering, Liaoning Technical University, Huludao 125105, China)
Abstract: Arc fault can be accidentally produced in electrical system. In this paper a new approach to the arc
modeling is discussed. A new arc model is proposed based on the Mayr arc model, which enriches the arc model
parameters. According to the corona discharge at beginning of arc, the corona resistance and two special electric
components (electric current diode) are taken into account, and the Mayr arc model is improved. In the Matlab/
Simulink environment, the arc fault occurring on the line is simulated using the package of the new arc model sub⁃
system, and the experiment of the occurrence of the series fault arc on the line is performed with the simulated cir⁃
cuit. By comparing the simulation and experiment results, the fault arc current of the improved model is basically in
coincidence with the experiment, and the feasibility and accuracy of the new arc model are verified.

Abstract: The characteristics of arc⁃fault on low voltage distribution lines are experimentally researched in this pa⁃
per. And the Mallat algorithm is appointed to decompose arc fault current on low voltage distribution lines, and the
obtained detail components are compared in different scales with normal current to establish characteristic quantity.
The experimental results show that arc fault detail components drastically ascend as compared with normal current,
in addition the high scales detail components play part in noise elimination. Eventually the comparison between arc
fault current and start current in detail components aiming at avoiding misjudgment shows that multi scale wavelet a⁃
nalysis Mallat algorithm is effectively used to detect arc fault. According to the above, an arc fault detection system
based on DSP (Digital Signal Processor) is developed in this paper and a method of adaptive fault diagnosis is pro⁃
posed, the experimental results show that the method will detect arc⁃fault effectively combining with the Mallat algo⁃
rithm. Key words: arc⁃fault; start current; Mallat algorithm; DSP; detection system

(1. Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an 710049, China; 2. China Electric Power Research Institute,
Beijing 100192, China; 3. Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University,
Beijing 100084, China)
Abstract: By the measurement of transformer noise in the short circuit and the no⁃load tests in the transformer
plant, the frequency spectrum and range are analyzed in this paper. The short circuit noise produced mainly by the
windings and the no⁃load noise mainly by the iron core have obvious difference in the noise frequency. The short
circuit noise only appears on the 100 Hz frequency point and the other one distributes in 100 ~600 Hz frequency
range. On the basis of the characteristics of the frequency spectrum, the noise in different load conditions, when
the transformer works in the power station, can be calculated or predicted by the method of frequency point synthe⁃
sis. This prediction method can solve the problem that the noise of transformer in rate load operation condition can⁃
not be obtained in the transformer plant, since there is no enough power to test and measure the transformer in full
load condition in the plant.
