Group Introduction
The center is mainly engaged in the research on key technologies of power electronics, advanced motion control, electrical energy conversion, and their application in maglev propulsion system and urban rail transportation. Now, there are more than 30 researchers in this center, including one academician of CAS, 5 professors, 5 associate professors and other staffs, together with more than 30 postdoctoral researchers, doctoral candidates and graduate students.
Since 1970s, IEECAS has commenced on research of these technologies. It successfully developed a linear asynchronous motor used for simulation experiment of aerospace vehicle, which can operate at 65km/h. It also cooperated with German partners and built a small size, high temperature superconducting magnetic levitation train model, which has been exhibited in China Science and Technology Museum till now.
For the Maglev Key Project of National 863 Program in the Tenth Five-Year Plan, and Key Technology R&D Program in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, the center has been carried out the research on the key technology of the power supply and propulsion system of the high-speed maglev transportation system, and takes charge of the system integration. Also, it has contributed a great deal to the Shanghai Maglev Transportation Project.
A three-level IGCT converter with the capability of 7.5 MVA has been completed, which is the biggest one in China till now. Also, a propulsion control system and a simulation software package have been developed for high-speed maglev transportation system. Novel linear motors are also investigated.
Besides, an experimentation platform for maglev system with hybrid excitation and linear motor drive system has been established. Moreover, a 100kVA medium-frequency power supply, a high-voltage active power filter and a 15kVA back-to-back converter have been completed recently. Furthermore, the research area has been extended to non-adhesion linear motor transportation system
